Derrick Koome

Derrick Koome is the founder of Cheswick and the Principal Survey Engineer. He is a live wire with regard to various land surveying techniques but he’s passionate about the use of GPS
technology in collecting survey data. He has extensive experience in carrying out surveys in the real estate, energy, engineering and water sectors.

Before founding Cheswick, Derrick had a stint at Nile Surveys and Geosolutions Ltd, a fast growing land survery firm based in Nairobi, as the Chief Surveyor. It is here that he quickly learnt the ropes of the land survey business, overseeing many projects and getting exposed to modern methods of survey. He has been involved in several projects outside Kenya as well as
many solo missions.

Derrick is very familiar with several land survey project workflows. His competencies include carrying out topographical surveys, pipeline/waterway surveys, stockpile measurement and volumetric calculations, cadastral surveys with subsequent analysis using AutoCAD Civil3D, ArcGIS, GlobalMapper, CHC Geomatics and Google Earth softwares.
